From my April 2020 hand painted watercolor collection, 31 Days of Mini Paintings.  Each of these 4”x4” pieces were inspired by my favorite places I have visited around the world, they each hold very special meaning for me and my loved ones.  As I painted, beautiful memories rushed in my heart of the laughter, joy, hugs, meaningful conversations, and breathtaking views that were inspired by our Creator.  I hope a spark of inspiration springs forth in you as you enjoy your own piece of our blue jewel earth.

Maui *sigh* My first trip to Maui was with a childhood friend, we stood at the departure gate, pen and paper in hand, writing the things we were leaving behind, with a promise not to discuss them the whole time we were in paradise. We crumpled them up and threw them in the trash before boarding. I might have cathartically crumpled mine a few [or 10] times.
When we landed my precious sun-kissed-joy-filled-beaming-smiles little sister picked us up, pretty sure the smiles were the result of the 100 count Chick-Fil-A nuggets box I handed over, her oven was already pre-heated and she wasn’t sharing even just one with her husband 🤣
After a quick inhale, we set off for the Grand Wailea Hotel where she worked and checked into our room, paradise was here...gorgeous room, incredible pool, and a spa like nothing I had ever experienced. We were given the locals tour of the island, hiking up gorgeous banyan tree filled trails, cooled by mile high waterfall mist, refreshed swimming in sacred pools, we learned there are no snakes on Maui, no snakes!! The views from Haleakalā were breathtaking, we saw the highly endangered silversword plant, sunned ourselves on the black beach, had a severe case of motion sickness on the road to Hana, and drove the coastline taking in the power of the ocean as it slammed against the shore, and we said humuhumunukunukuapua'a 🐟 a lot. Many of my travels have changed my perspective on life, Maui’s gift was one of deep acceptance of things out of my control and giving way to abiding peace.
