#24 Sandy Hook Lighthouse, NJ PrintRegular price $20.00
From my April 2020 hand painted watercolor collection, 31 Days of Mini Paintings. Each of these 4”x4” pieces were inspired by my favorite places I have visited around the world, they each hold very special meaning for me and my loved ones. As I painted, beautiful memories rushed in my heart of the laughter, joy, hugs, meaningful conversations, and breathtaking views that were inspired by our Creator. I hope a spark of inspiration springs forth in you as you enjoy your own piece of our blue jewel earth.
Ten years ago, on my first trip to meet the family of the love of my life, I was overjoyed and a little overwhelmed as I was greeted with hugs and love from the warmest family I’ve ever met...all 40 of them. It was like a scene out of My Big Fat Greek Wedding, various forms of the same name, the best of friends all sharing the same dna, joyous and happy and so humble, with traditions that span over 80 years. My personal favorite being subs on the beach at sunset. As I sat on the beach day after day under our colorful umbrella getting to know each one of them, I fell in love with one particular aunt and uncle couple, he loves taking pictures more than I do, and they are fellow lighthouse enthusiasts!! So graciously they invited us on an excursion up the coast of New Jersey and I was gifted with an experience still fresh in my mind. At the time I hadn’t heard of Sandy Hook, the property was gorgeous and the lighthouse like none I had ever seen. I learned it is the oldest working lighthouse in the United States, built in 1764. I took SO many pictures with the hopes of painting it when I returned home, still baffled that 10 years passed like a blur. This watercolor painting, as well as the next two, are my loving dedication to the two I have called my “Hero Couple” since the moment I met them...you’ll find out more about that in #25. Thank you for sharing your love of lighthouses with me, it’s aways the gift of giving quality time that we humans never ever forget.
